MISD Community Education has partnered with Planet Kidz to offer fun-filled Friday nights at Agnew Middle School for the past 12 years. Dale Oakes, president of Planet Kidz, has put together a great program in cooperation with school districts and city park/recreation departments all over the state of Texas. Mr. Oakes feels that the success of Planet Kidz events are a community effort benefitting our community's children and young teens. Pre-teens and teens in grades 3 through 8 are too old for a babysitter, yet too young to be left unsupervised. There are few choices where these children can go to have fun and excitement in a safe and secure environment. MISD Community Education and Planet Kidz/Friday Nite Live have filled this need. By participating in Planet Kidz/Friday Nite Live, pre-teens and teens can develop their social and physical skills while being looked after with interactive supervision, a well-trained management team and a city police officer on site.
Planet Kidz offers a fun and safe youth program for students in grades 3 through 8 nearly every Friday night from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m. at Agnew Middle School. Participants can enjoy activities including, but not limited to, sports tournaments [basketball, football, dodgeball], Top 40 dance music with a live DJ, dance contests, hula hoop contests, limbo, and many more cool activities to do! Each week features different activities and different themes. During the fall semester, Planet Kidz runs from mid-September through mid-December.
