To encourage you, below are some pictures of this year's event:
This was the first year that MISD Community Education has participated in Mesquite's annual Rodeo Parade. Despite a chilly start to the morning, all involved had a great time! One of MISD Community Education's instructors, Mona Piro, allowed us to use her lovely PT Cruiser convertible for the parade. We also had the use of a beautiful Dodge Ram pick-up truck courtesy of Kimberly Hrncir, sister of Marybeth Mank, Marketing Specialist for MISD Community Education. Both vehicles were decorated for the festivities. MISD Community Education would like to thank Mona and Anthony Piro, Venus Jenkins, Bobbi Mank, Kimberly Hrncir and her two children Michael and Bethany, Mitchell Mank, and Melanie and Randy Hibberd and their three children, Courtney, Rosie and Tyler. They all donated their time to help decorate vehicles and distribute flyers, bubble gum and pencils along the parade route. Look for us next year!
The week of December 12, 2005 saw the distribution of books and Whatburger Jr. coupons to kindergarten and first grade students at three of MISD's Title I schools. Books were distributed to Shands Elementary, Tosch Elementary, and Mackey Elementary. The students were overjoyed to receive an early holiday surprise. Check out the smiles of the children in the pictures below! We offer our thanks and gratitude to John Heiman, Jr. and Sandie Thompson of Whataburger of Mesquite, Inc. for their most generous donation of the Whataburger Jr. coupons. We would also like to offer our thanks and gratitude to Lynda Jaggers, MISD's Title I District Coordinator and Sandy Travis, MISD's Title I Parent Liaison. MISD's Title I department helped to buy the books for the students.
