They can spend the using their imaginations while creating and rehearsing their own play with a professional actor from Dallas Children's Theater. This organization is rated by Time magazine as one of the top five youth-oriented theater groups in the United States. Dallas Children's Theater also offers in cooperation with MISD Community Education an after-school drama camp as well as a summer drama camp. At the end of the day, or the camp, the campers perform their play for family and friends to enjoy. If you want your would-be actor to learn other skills besides simply acting, send your child to one of our Drama Kids International after-school camps. Drama Kids International DKI offers a curriculum that has been developed over 25 years designed to help participants gain self-confidence and improve self-esteem while improving poise in front of groups and improving vocabulary. Students also learn leadership skills and creative thinking while learning acting tips, too. Currently, after-school camps are offered at Smith Elementary and Austin Elementary. This spring, campers who commit to participating in March, April and May will put on a full-scale production, complete with costumes, for family and friends.
