Minor in Possession/Alcohol Awareness Classes
Winter 2008/Spring 2008 Schedule
In accordance with Senate Bill 35, enacted in September 1997, minors cited for alcohol–related offenses, such as Minor in Possession (MIP), Driving Under the Influence (DUI), Consumption and Attempted Purchase, may be ordered to an alcohol awareness class.
The class is six (6) hours in length, divided into two (2) three–hour classes. Students must attend both sessions as well as the Exit Interview, which occurs immediately after the end of the second session. Students must register in person and pay for the class prior to the first session.
Minor in Possession (MIP)/Alcohol Awareness classes are offered once a month through Mesquite ISD's Community Education department. The fee is $60. Below is our current schedule.
REGISTRATION MUST BE COMPLETED IN PERSON. No phone or mail-in registrations will be accepted.
Students age 17 and older may register alone. If student is 16 or younger, a parent or guardian MUST accompany the student to register. The student attends the classes alone. Student must provide state-issued Driver's License number or state-issused ID Card number and Social Security number for registration purposes. It is also recommended that the student bring with them to registration the paper received in court.
Registration is from 3:00 to 4:30p on the specified dates listed below. Registration takes place in the MISD Curriculum Building located at 405 East Davis Street, Mesquite, Texas 75149.
The classes are held on the specified dates listed below at Mesquite Academy Annex located at 2700 Motley Drive, Room 103, Mesquite, Texas 75150.
